How to Save on Domestic Flights

You used to be able to travel by air with low cost fares. Okay, travel has never been completely affordable but it was a lot cheaper than what it is going for now. Flying anywhere these days is about as difficult as trying to afford a second home. Staycations and conference calls have replaced vacations and business trips because of the cost of airfare. Of course this will save you money but is it really as fun and productive to stay at home or in the office instead of on a beach in Maui. Of course, if you know where to look there are ways of getting cheap airfare on domestic flights. We will discuss how you can get some major bang for your travel dollar. A cool local area would be Palawan Underground River and you'll definitely love it there. Stay an extra day, leave on sunday instead. You will get a lower fare if you book a saturday night stay and fly out on sunday or later. This could mean flying during the week or even longer than a week (if you fly somewhere on Saturday) but the savings could make the extra time worth it. This has been the case for years. Some people have realized the benefits of a saturday night stay for decades. If you had a choice wouldn't you choose a longer vacation anyway?

If you want to get cheap domestic flights, travel in the middle of the week. Discounts are sometimes given by airlines to travelers who stay over on Saturday. The best rates are usually reserved for travelers who fly between Tuesday and Thursday. Weekends are the most popular times for most people to schedule travel.

The majority of people are working weekdays. This means that fewer tickets tend to be sold weekdays. Airlines, of course, want to sell as many tickets as they can. The more seats that need to be filled the lower the cost of the tickets. Flying to to Kayangan Lake is no problem. Beware of consolidators. Some of the companies that advertise very cheap flights are completely legitimate. There are, however, at least as many who cannot be trusted. If you are dealing with a less than reputable company, they could shut their doors at any time, and you will be left without a ticket, as well as the money you paid.

Don't buy your tickets through such a company until you've checked them out. Ask the airlines which companies they are selling their tickets to so that you won't be taken advantage of or ripped off. You definitely don't want to have your trip or vacation ruined because a fly-by-night consolidator pocketed your money and vanished. Locating a good deal on domestic travel does not have to be difficult. It is a myth that you cannot negotiate your airfare. If you know what you are doing you can negotiate yourself right into a great deal. If you can be flexible the airlines will follow suit. Be aware of what you have to spend and base your flexibility on that amount. Don't rush into a flight too soon. You will eventually find the perfect flight at the perfect price.
